Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Scott A. Saboe, 33, of Willow Lake, S.D., was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), based at Fort Campbell, Ky. On November 15, 2003 over a residential suburb in Mosul, Iraq, a pair of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters collided in mid-air. It appeared that one of the aircraft was hit on the tail wing by a rocket-propelled grenade. CWO2 Saboe was piloting one of the helicopters and died in the crash.

A graduate of Willow Lake High School, Scott Saboe played center on the football team and was on both the basketball and track teams. He enlisted in September 1989 and was married in October of 1994. Three years later they added a son to the family. Some of his decorations include The Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal and numerous others. CWO2 Saboe was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

His wife and son are both Folds of Honor scholarship recipients.
